Introduce us to your band!
Hello, we’re a pop-punk quartet from Toronto, Canada called Wasting Time.
How did you guys start out?
The band originally formed in the 2000s by our singer and guitarist, Vlad with a different lineup. After a hiatus that lasted nearly 8 years, he reformed the band in 2017, which now features Mark on lead guitar, Mike on bass and Mikey on drums.
Describe your band’s sound
Melodic punk rock. Our main influences are Alkaline Trio, Green Day, blink-182, 90s Fat Wreck bands and such. We’re sometimes fast, but not afraid to slow things down a little. A lot of our songs are serious and personal, but we’re also not afraid to joke around.
What influences your craft?
Life experiences, The Simpsons and junk food.
What makes your project different?
We’ve all got our different backgrounds in music and life. We try to be as genuine as we can with what we play, and hope that that’s enough to separate us from the pack!
When introducing people to your music, what song should I show them first? What is your quintessential track?
My Limited French, our latest single.
What has been the biggest struggle in your career so far?
Finding the right people to work with, which is always a challenge for a creative, passion project.
What has been the biggest highlight in your career so far?
Opening for Smoking Popes in our home city and not driving each other too crazy.
How bright is the future of your band – what are the plans?
Releasing our upcoming album Once More Without Feeling in the fall, and hitting the road to play shows when it’s safe to do so.
When all is said and done, how would you like to be remembered?
For being an honest and fun band with music that encouraged people to shake their booties! We work hard, we play hard!
